Time for a Blog Update!

I have had this blog since 2007. It hasn't seen much use for the last few years so I thought it was time to dust it off and give it a makeover. I am not sure if blogs are as popular as they once were but here goes anyway.
Update in my life is we still have sheep, lots of sheep.......

That said we have lots of fleece and fiber that is accumulating, especially with the cancellation of events and markets this year. I have been selling a few of the best fleeces that would have been entered in the wool show at our now cancelled fair but still have quite a few to play with. I have been looking for ways to use up part of the fleece and fiber hoard and found this really cool video on youtube on how to use a peg loom to weave wool rugs with raw fleece. Peg Loom Weaving with Raw Fleece .

First I made a peg loom, really easy with just an old hardwood 2 x 4 and some 1/2 inch dowels. I had some linen warp thread so I made a practice rug with some of the wool blanket selvage stash. Wool blanket selvage is plentiful here as the mill is really close to us and it makes really nice durable rugs. (The wool we dont use is actually sold to the mill so this could be OUR wool).

Peg looms are amazing! 😀

A friend in my spinning group wanted a rug made for her studio space. I was going to crochet one for her with the blanket selvage but thought the peg loom would give her a flatter and more even rug. She brought me a bag and off I went...

Warped and ready to go

Finished!

She loves it  💓

Next up is wool fleece. I will add an update. I am hoping to use up my blanket selvage stash so will have some of these rugs availabe for sale.

Let me know in the comments if you are intersested. They are amazingly soft and really cushy to stand on.

What fiber arts have you been working on?
